It's Sunday and, yes, I got down to the house and put the new plastic sheets on the roof. It was technically a fairly straightforward process but I might have a touch more work to do to finish it off.

I don't know what it is but walking around on the patio roof is kinda challenging. You wouldn't think so but it's a balancing act and I don't think my balance is all that good. In fact I know it isn't because I'd finished pulling out the old screws from one side of the old sheet and was stepping over to get to the other side and overbalanced. I ended up putting one leg straight through the sheet. I was, say, 70% okay in that I was quickly able to recover but I could easily have fallen right through. That's when I got the scratch. It took a bit of skin off my shin but it's nothing too serious.

The rest of the installation went okay but the second sheet, that had been on the bottom and lying on the garage floor, was all covered in dust and dog hair. I tried brushing it off but all I did was electrically charge it so the hair stuck even harder. Well that's not true, I did manage to get most of the dirt off.

I replaced the sheets but the bit where they overlap, I may have to return with a tube of silicone to waterproof them. Ideally I would have bought a single sheet cut to size. I checked the condition of the other sheet and there's a little crack on the western side but the rest is probably fine for a year or two. Perhaps I'll order the sheet and have it delivered when the time comes.

I was wanting to begin clearing the gutters. They are full of weeds and moss and really need clearing out but doing the work on the shed really knocked me about. I checked the far corner of the shed and the tree debris wasn't as bad as I expected - that will only need a good sweep, though the gutters will be full of leaves. It's probably unrelated but now I'm sitting at home with a sniffly nose. I'll have to head back to do the guttering later. So, still a fair bit to do down at the house.
